Luis currently is the Digital Convergence Program Coordinator at the Department of Communications. He started this program in 2007, following his work in the university-wide Learning Technologies Program (2003). Dr. Martinez is a Senior Professor and researcher at the departments of Communications and Engineering. He currently teaches in courses on a wide variety of subjects, ranging from electrical instrumentation to philosophy of technology. His professional projects span these areas, such as the first automated meteorological station in the Santa Fe area in Mexico City(1997), the university’s radio station (Ibero 90.9, 2002), and the Mexico City’s Culture Bureau Radio Station (Codigo DF, 2008).
Dr. Martinez is an electronics and communications engineer (UIA, Mexico 1992). He holds the degrees of Master of Science in Industrial Measurement Systems (Brunel University, UK 1995) and Philosophy Doctor (researching on magneto-optical residual current sensors) (Brunel University, UK 2003). Currently he researches on the impact of technology in education, media and society. He is an active member of diverse professional societies including the IEEE and the ISA, and other philanthropic associations such as the Axtel Foundation Steering Committee .
Currently he is actively researching on safety in social networks and developing effective means to promote a safer Internet experience, specially for children.
From 2007, he is member of the MacLearning Steering Committee.
