Informatics with a Capital "I"
Douglas Perry, Ph.D. What is Informatics? A constellation of knowledge structures and a spectrum of subsumed disciplines, all of which are grounded in theory and praxis. When these tacit relationships are made explicit, a unified concept of informatics emerges. Information technologies change existing disciplinary knowledge and work, and give rise to entirely new constellations of knowing and doing. Informatics programs encapsulate broad and specific foci on IT in various contexts at different levels. |
