Hello everyone, I just registered here and seems like a great site. I am currently a graduate student of Earth Science secondary education. I am in the process of conducting some classroom research and was hoping to get everyone's opinion of what they think. The topic I am interested in learning more about is podcasting. I love the technological aspect of it, and I think it can really have positive effects on classroom learning. Here is the question I came up with... "What happens to students attitudes, opinions and behavior about science when they participate in creating their own podcast about lab exercises?" Does anyone have experience with this? Let me know what you think! Thanks again and great site, looking forward to being here! |

I sort have experience in this area. For some of my Calculus classes I have students show how they would work out a problem explaining step-by-step their thought process and word, just as if they were in front of a class. They use JING to do a screen cast on a TabletPC then FTP the file to our server. We configure JING so it will auto FTP for them. I then share everyone's work on a web page so they can see each others work. The comments I receive at first are typically something like "we don't have time to do this stuff" then at the end of the course when I have them do a course evaluation they almost always comment on how much they learned from the process. Not sure if this is what you were looking for or not. |
